The EUA Learning & Teaching Thematic Peer Groups bring together selected member universities to explore institutional practices and share lessons learned in the organisation and implementation of improved learning and teaching. The groups also work to identify and disseminate good practices on a specific theme — in the case of this group, staff development and transnational collaboration.

The participating universities included:

  • (Germany)
  • (Armenia)
  • (Georgia)
  • (France)
  • (Kosovo)
  • (Albania)
  • (Spain)
  • (UK)

The meeting focused on fostering dialogue and collaboration on staff development and transnational academic cooperation within the framework of the EUA Learning & Teaching Forum 2026. Participants engaged in interactive discussions aimed at identifying best practices, challenges, and innovative approaches to enhancing professional development for academic and administrative staff across European higher education institutions.

”It was an honour to host the final meeting, and so inspiring to chair, as well as being a part of such dynamic conversation leading to agreeing on key factors for improved staff development. ”, says UllaKarin Sundqvist Nilsson, Analyst at Linköping University.

The fruitful work will result in a final report with recommendations, e.g. a framework. This gathering reinforced the commitment of European universities to strengthen cooperation, share expertise, and promote excellence in teaching and learning, contributing to a more interconnected and innovative higher education landscape across Europe.
