My research interests include theoretical and historical aspects of the content of schooling in relation to science and technology in primary and secondary school. 

History of education and educational policy

My research stretches from science and technology education to educational policy and history of education and is published in journals such as History of ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ, Journal of Curriculum Studies, Chemistry ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ Research and Practice, and Nordic Journal of Studies in ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æal Policy. My latest book, (2019), deals with the late-twentieth-century curriculum reforms in Sweden. Two recent publications concern comparative perspectives on Nordic educational policy:

Funding for practice-based school research for TESER

Magnus Hultén and Astrid Berg at TESER are receiving SEK 2.5 million from the Swedish Institute for ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æal Research for a research project on animation and digital tools in the early years of chemistry teaching.
