In this course the focus is on understanding and analysing new social movements. This is done by discussing similarities and differences between (old) Social Movements and New Social Movements. Old and new social movements are discussed in relation to social conflicts. In understanding and analysing social movements the focus is on vision, politics and organisation, within a context of social change, the role of the state, internationalisation and globalisation. Students will be given the opportunity of more closely focus on a particular social movement and through seminar assignments based on movement material and/or newspaper articles analyse social movements.
