You must pay the first rent for the whole month in advance before the month starts. E.g. for August, you pay the rent so that the landlord receives your transaction by 31 July at the latest. You will get the invoice to the e-mail address you registered when you made the application to LiU. Please check that the address and the payment period are correct before you pay. Remember to only put digits, no letters, in the field for the OCR number, or Heimstaden will not see who the payment is from (due to the limitation of the number of characters that your bank forwards). If your invoice is missing, send an email to kundservice@heimstaden.com and they will email you a new one.  

Mid-month you will get a new invoice for the coming month which must be paid before the end of the month.  

If you are already in Link枚ping we prefer that you pay your rent with cash or card at Direkten or ChangeGroup (listed below as option 1 and 2). If you do, there will be no currency differences, the transaction will arrive in 1 banking day, and it will be easier for the landlord to link the transaction to the correct property.

Options for paying the rent

Option 1

You can pay at Direkten Ryd in Ryd Centrum. You can use a credit card or cash (there is an ATM in Ryd Centrum). The fee for paying an invoice is 2% of the invoice or minimum 80 SEK. For example, if your rent is 4.340 SEK, the fee will be 86 SEK. Bring a passport or national ID. They are open 7 days a week.  

Option 2

The second option is ChangeGroup, an exchange office where you also can pay invoices. You find them placed inside the mall i-Huset, at V盲stra Svedengatan 7, on the ground floor, north part of the building. Their opening hours are Monday to Friday 10:00 until 20:00 and weekends 10:00 until 18:00. They charge a fee of 70 SEK for paying an invoice up to 5000 SEK. Higher amounts have a fee of 1,4%. You need to bring the rental invoice and passport or international ID.  

It is not possible to pay the rent at a bank in Link枚ping City unless you are a customer at the bank. Without a Swedish Social Security number, it is difficult to open a bank account in a Swedish bank. 

Option 3

An alternative is a neobank e.g. Wise.com that provides online banking services through a partnership with an established bank. Neobanks are virtual banks that offer complete banking services via digital platforms like mobile applications. Before you apply, make sure the neobank offers payment solutions that allow you to pay your bills in Sweden. Add money for the fee your bank charges you to make an international transaction. It is ok to pay in another currency than SEK but make sure that the payment covers the whole amount for the rent. If you exceed the amount, the exceeding sum will be deducted from the following month鈥檚 bill. At the 鈥淢essage to the receiver鈥�, write only the OCR number (only the numbers, not the letters). Note this number is different each month. It鈥檚 also possible to pay for several months at once, by multiplying the monthly rent by the number of full months you wish to pay for. However, Heimstaden cannot issue refunds if you shorten your housing contract. The first two weeks of June are free. 

Option 4

Use your bank in your home country and make an international transaction. You find the international bank information printed on your rental invoice. Make sure to pay the invoice at least one week before the due date, as it may take some extra time. For example, the rent for September should reach Heimstaden by 31 August at the latest. Add the cost that your bank charges you to make an international transaction. It is ok to pay in another currency than SEK, but make sure that the payment covers the whole amount for the rent. If you exceed the amount the exceeding sum will be deducted from the following month鈥檚 bill. As a 鈥淢essage to the receiver鈥�, write only the OCR number (only the numbers, not the letters). You must pay your first rent for your accommodation in Norrköping before you arrive. 

How to pay the rent

You always pay the rent in advance. The rent is paid at the end of each month. The first rent needs to be paid before you move into your new accommodation and will be sent to you via e-mail. After you have arrived, Studentbo notifies the rental invoice via the apartment’s postbox.

Instructions how to pay the first rent:

1. Make the bank transfer (instructions below). It is very important that you fill it in correctly. Check it carefully to avoid problems!
2. Keep a copy of the receipt for the bank transfer.
3. Give the copy to Studentbo when you arrive in Norrköping.

Paying the rent in Sweden

Once in Sweden, Studentbo prefers if you can pay the rent in accordance with the rental invoice. Paying the rent without the information in the rental invoice means manual handling of the payment for the economy department, and may lead to the rent payment not being placed correctly.
The rent can be paid with the rental invoice via, for example, ChangeGroup at Drottninggatan 66 in Norrköping. Contact ChangeGroup for more information.

You have to pay the rent for the full month regardless of arrival date.

The housing is fully furnished, but bedding equipment is not included. Previous tenants might leave pillows and blankets/duvet but this cannot be guaranteed.

In Linköping

Internet with speeds up to 100/100 Mbit is included in the rent and will not be invoiced separately, unless you choose to sign up for another service, such as a faster connection.
Tele2 is the Internet Service Provider (ISP), that delivers the connection service.

In Norrköping

Internet with speeds up to 100/10 Mbit is included in the rent and will not be invoiced separately.

If you signed the housing contract with LiU, you will find your complete address there.  

The mailbox is located at the entrance of the building if you live in a corridor and in a separate room in your building if you live in a student apartment.  

For larger packages, they will either be sent to a collection point or a parcel locker for a maximum of five days. Note! For some parcel lockers, a BankID is required - do not choose that shipping option. You will receive a code to collect the package via SMS, email, or mail when it arrives. 

Remember to bring a valid form of identification passport or EU-issued ID card (copies not accepted) to the collection point. Choose Mårdtorpsgatan 27 as it is closest to your accommodation. Unfortunately, LiU cannot collect or accept deliveries.

Most parking options in Linköping and Norrköping (and Sweden in general) are paid parking. Unless your accommodation includes a parking garage or spot, you will have to park your car on the street or in a parking garage. Most of these will have machines where you can pay your parking fee, but the most convenient way is probably through apps.

Parking apps

If you want to pay the parking fee with your mobile phone, there are different apps you can use. On the respective website, you will find more information about which car parks apply and how to pay for the car park using the phone.

Long-term parking in Linköping

Dukaten is responsible for the long-term parking at the train station. Monthly payments can be made for some parking areas within the city. Check for more information about where you can park in the city for longer periods of time. Some of the apps listed above also have options to pay monthly for a parking subscription in specific areas.

How do I find parking?

The apps have multiple functions and maps that allow you to find parking near your location or a location that you specify. Not all parking areas allow for long-term parking, so please confirm this before parking in a certain spot intending to leave your car for a long period of time.

Parking at Ryds Allé

At the student accommodation in Ryd, on Ryds Allé, the closest parking is with the company Parkster (right outside the residential area). This is how you pay for parking when you do not have a Swedish social security number:

1. on their website under ‘Sign in’
2. On the sign up form, under ‘Social security number’, choose ‘Click here’. That also requires you to add a debit/credit card as payment method (people with a Swedish social security number is billed monthly via the population registration).
3. Download the app to start the parking or send a text message/SMS to +46 707 13 14 15 (writing the area code (‘zonkod’) 33379 followed by the registration number/license plate of your car.

It is necessary for Link枚ping University (LiU) to store and process personal data about you, such as: name, T-number, email, address in home country, date of desired occupation, desired location of accommodation, desired type of accommodation, dates of study, faculty of study, type of exchange, home university, country of home university, date of receipt of application, starting date and ending date of period of contract validity, date of contract signing, address of accommodation rented out by LiU, dates for delivery and return of keys, and any other information that we require to be able to perform our work.

The purpose of the processing is to:
鈥� provide you as tenant with information
鈥� enter into a contract with you
鈥� manage keys
鈥� issue rental payment reminders
鈥� submit monthly lists of new residents and those who have left to the landlords. (However, as tenant you must also register your personal data on the website of the relevant landlord.)
鈥� enable our records system AtHome to produce statistics for future planning.

We apply all currently valid legislation to ensure privacy when processing personal data. The legal basis on which we process your personal data is that we shall be able to fulfil our obligations according to the contract that we have with you. Your personal data will be stored for the time being. The data provided will be available to the Housing Coordinator in the International Office at LiU.

It may be necessary for LiU to disclose your personal data to a third party. The landlords will use your personal data to:
鈥� issue rental payment notices
鈥� aid locksmiths when changing the lock cylinder
鈥� submit lists of tenants to the insurance company (since home insurance is included in the rent)
鈥� process fault notices (including aiding contractors and pest-control agents)
鈥� book final cleaning after you have moved out
鈥� provide information to the on-call personnel to investigate disturbances and provide security
鈥� carry out an annual customer survey
鈥� where necessary, provide other personal data processors contracted by LiU with personal data such that they can provide their services and fulfil their obligations to you.

If your personal data is subject to secrecy we will deal with your data in accordance with our procedures established by the student information system Ladok for such kinds of data.

Information to be provided where personal data are collected from the data subject (from Article 13 of the Data Protection Regulation)

1. Where personal data relating to a data subject are collected from the data subject, the controller shall, at the time when personal data are obtained, provide the data subject with all of the following information:
a) the identity and the contact details of the controller and, where applicable, of the controller鈥檚 representative: Housing Coordinator, housing@liu.se
b) the contact details of the data protection officer: dataskyddsombud@liu.se
c) the purposes of the processing for which the personal data are intended as well as the legal basis for the processing
d) the recipients or categories of recipients of the personal data, if any.

2. In addition to the information referred to in Paragraph 1, LiU shall, at the time when personal data are obtained, provide the data subject with the following further information necessary to ensure fair and transparent processing:
a) the period for which the personal data will be stored, or if that is not possible, the criteria used to determine that period
b) the existence of the right to request from the controller access to and rectification or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing concerning the data subject or to object to processing as well as the right to data portability
c) where the processing is based on point (a) of Article 6(1) or point (a) of Article 9(2), the existence of the right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal
d) the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority now known as the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY)
e) whether the provision of personal data is a statutory or contractual requirement, or a requirement necessary to enter into a contract, as well as whether the data subject is obliged to provide the personal data and of the possible consequences of failure to provide such data
f) the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, referred to in Article 22(1) and (4) and, at least in those cases, meaningful information about the logic involved, as well as the significance and the envisaged consequences of such processing for the data subject.

3. Where the controller intends to further process the personal data for a purpose other than that for which the personal data were collected, the controller shall provide the data subject prior to that further processing with information on that other purpose and with any relevant further information as referred to in Paragraph 2.

4. Paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 shall not apply where and insofar as the data subject already has the information.

As an exchange student at Linköping University, you are covered by Kammarkollegiet's insurance Student IN. It is a personal injury- and accident insurance.

Student IN partly includes liability protection, legal protection, and property protection but a home insurance is more comprehensive.
