Close links between basic and applied research teams facilitate interdisciplinary and translational research; crossing the boundaries between traditional disciplines and university departments is a hallmark of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Our research spans the entire medical field, from basic experimental research to patient-oriented research, health sciences and public health.

We focus on research cooperation across professional and faculty borders and between different research areas – a combination that has proved successful. Patient benefit is the focus of our research. Therefore Region Östergötland and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has an array of joint research programs to strengthen clinical research. Examples of research areas in which we are at the front line are medical image science, regenerative medicine, systems neurobiology and forensic medical sciences.
